A reinterpretation of the French constitution in light of the country’s membership to the European Union and the European Convention on Human Rights Symposium. supervised by Hélène Gaudin (IRDEIC).

The starting point and guiding principle of this research was not to look at the influence or, for want of a better word, the ‘acceptance’ of European rights in the Constitution and constitutional case-law but rather to look at the incorporation of the European rationale in the constitutional texts and principles.

How and to what extent had membership of the EU and European Convention of Human Rights modified constitutional instincts and the interpretation of constitutional texts? This reflection led to the publication of a collective work and a workshop on feedback and discussion of contributions.

The collective work was published by Dalloz in its Topics and Commentary collection.
