European case law on non-discrimination : an infringement to national religious liberties ?

When compared to the constitutional protection afforded in Germany to freedom of religion, the case-law of the European Union’s Court of Justice on non-discrimination is disappointing especially in relation to the right to wear a veil as part of the Islamic faith. The case-law also distinctly limits the freedom of social services provided by religious institutions in relation to choosing staff members and the obligations imposed
